  1. What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine. This holistic medicine which has been around for more than 3,000+ years is a health care system that effectively treats modern health concerns. Acupuncture addresses the root causes of illness by correcting internal and energetic imbalances, and offers highly personalized treatment. Natural side effects of acupuncture include improved overall health, stronger immunity, smoother digestion, more restful sleep, a relaxed nervous system, and increased energy & vitality.

 

  1. How many treatments to have until it heals?

The number of treatments varies depending on the individual person. It can be one treatment to ongoing maintenance for several years. There are many factors that we look at including age, constitution, lifestyle, chronic/acute, etc…

 

  1. What does needling feel like?

Most people will feel a slight pinch as the needle penetrates the skin, comparable to a small insect bite. Once the needle is in, sensations that could be experienced are a heavy sensation, slight tingling, sensation of qi moving through out the body, cooling sensation, a total body calmness, just to name a few.

 

  1. What kinds of pains does needling help heal?

Acupuncture and chinese medicine treats all types of pain: dull, achy, stiff, tight, shooting, sharp, throbbing, pinching. We treat pain in any part of the body including migraines.

 

  1. How long are each sessions?

Initial visits are approximately one hour and 30 minutes long. Follow-up visits are approximately one hour long.

 

  1. Does it work on everyone?

The effectiveness of acupuncture depends on the person. Everyone should feel some improvement after a few treatments.

 

  1. Is there an age limit?

Acupuncture and chinese medicine is for everyone, there is no age limit. We offer non-insertive acupuncture for toddlers and those that need it.
